Though none in the Guild would dispute the importance of a clean shave and a fresh haircut, our true value lies in the duties we perform alongside these more aesthetic arts.

Goals:

  • Care: We care for the living as well as for whatever it is we remove from them while they are in our care. It is our duty to look after everything and everyone we care for.
  • Panacea: We’ve learned there is tremendous healing power locked away in each of us. With enough experimentation we should be able to unlock it.

Secrets:

Emergency Healing

The guild has found that practical necessity is often the best driving force for medical innovation. These have been found to consistently work, but experimentation is encouraged.

  • Makeshift cask: A wooden frame tied to a broken limb grants limited mobility and helps the bone heal right. Combine with anesthetics to temporarily increase mobility.
  • Dissolving Stitches: Sutures made from sheep guts will dissolve as the wound heals, requiring no further actions after having been applied.
  • Rinse it off: Almost everything you get on you that hurts is best rinsed off as soon as possible. Be wary though: Certain metals combust when exposed to water!
  • Blood Rush: To clear someone’s mind, hang them upside down and they’ll feel like themselves again in a few minutes.

Forbidden Arts

The following are shared only to show the importance of cleaning up after we’re done. The guild would never condone actually performing any of the following:

  • Tangle Curse: Tie a knot in a lock of someone’s hair while wishing them misfortunes. A similar knot will form somewhere in the person’s hair and they will suffer misfortune until they untangle it.
  • Wayfinder Teeth: All teeth wish to return to their former homes. Drop one and the direction it moves in is where the owner of the tooth is. Do so in water, and the direction will be visible a lot more clearly.
  • Blood Bond: Sharing each other's blood creates an unbreakable bond between two people. Mixing through shallow wounds is advised, as those that get a taste for blood tend to find it hard to control their newfound urge.
  • Flesh Sculpting: Amputated flesh is a lot easier to work with, while still retaining some of the functions of its original owner. That is, for as long as their owner remains alive.

Magical Tattoos

Some shapes have power when drawn with special inks. Though the ingrediënts for these are incredibly hard to come by, you have one of these somewhere on your body:

  • Split Key: Allows you to pass through objects while breathing out with closed eyes.
  • Eye on Shield: Protects you against harm as long as you can predict it accurately.
  • Sun Outline: Causes those who look directly at the tattoo to be blinded.
  • Spiral inside Star: Keeps something inside you sealed away.

Salves and Ointments

Not all wounds require harsh treatments. Sometimes it is sufficient to rub something on it.

  • Lizard’s Tail Ointment: Quickly heals shallow wounds but causes headaches.
  • Bitterroot Salve: Common antidote against most venom but causes nausea.
  • Spiced Sunflower Oil: Warms the body slowely, but causes rashes.
  • Mint Blackcurrant Cream: Gently cools the body but causes pimples.
